It continues to follow the growth trend and its five-month and May figures are attacking the pre-crisis values of 2019. However, the lower production results in the bus and motorcycle segment, caused by the cyclical nature of orders and the persistent shortage of many components, confirm that we will have to reckon with the effects of the volatile situation of the last few years during 2023. On the other hand, the increase in the share of the number of electric vehicles produced, which exceeds 12.2% of total production, is very positive news. Although there is increased interest in these vehicles, particularly in Western markets, it is clear that electric mobility is continuing its growth trend. For this reason, we see maintaining free parking for electric vehicles in Prague as one of the key benefits that can effectively support the development of clean mobility in the Czech Republic as well,”<\/em> says Zden\u011bk Petzl, Executive Director of the Automotive Industry Association<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the first five months, 595,580 passenger vehicles were produced in the Czech Republic, i.e. 23.7% more than in the same period of the previous year. Electric vehicles (EVs) accounted for 72,796 vehicles, representing more than 12.2% of domestic car production, while a total of 52,668 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 20,128 plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) were produced.<\/p>\n \u0160koda Auto, the largest domestic carmaker, produced 375,981 passenger cars (+34.4%) at its domestic plants in the first five months. 41,654 electric cars (BEVs and PHEVs) were produced, i.e. 11% of the brand’s total production. Of these, 34,202 were battery vehicles and 7,452 were plug-in hybrids.<\/p>\n Hyundai’s Nosovice plant produced a total of 145,200 vehicles in the first five months, 7.7% more than in the same period last year. Of the total number of vehicles, 18,466 were pure electric and 12,676 plug-in hybrids. Overall, electric vehicles accounted for almost 21.4% of total production.<\/p>\n Cologne-based Toyota also recorded higher production figures year-on-year. 74,399 cars were produced, 10.9% more than in January-May 2022. In absolute terms, 7,320 more passenger cars were produced in Cologne in the period. Hybrid vehicles (HEVs) accounted for over 53% of production.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the first four months, 223 fewer buses were produced in the Czech Republic than in the same period last year. The total value of production was 1,883 buses, which represents a 10.6% decrease compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n IVECO CR in Vysok\u00e9 M\u00fdto produced 1,756 buses, 6.6% less than in the same period last year. SOR Libchavy produced a total of 119 buses in the first five months of this year, i.e. 86 less (-42%) than last year. KHMC produced 8 minibuses in the period. In the electric drive segment, a total of 5 battery BEV buses were produced at SOR’s Libchavy plant.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Traditional motorcycle manufacturer JAWA Moto also saw a five-month decline in production, mainly due to market saturation with the successful “Perak” model last year.
