<\/em><\/p>\n“Not only January’s but also February’s vehicle production figures surpass the best pre-crisis results in absolute terms. Despite the shortages of some components or reports of economic cooling, the car industry continues to support the Czech economy. In fact, vehicles of domestic brands are doing well both on the domestic and European markets. This is finally confirmed by the figures of the best-selling brands in Europe by number of vehicles sold, where Toyota and \u0160koda Auto are among the top three,”<\/em> says Zden\u011bk Petzl, Executive Director of the Association of the Automotive Industry.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n In January and February, 263,028 passenger vehicles were produced in the Czech Republic, i.e. 22.3% more than in the first two months of the previous year. Electric vehicles produced in the period totalled 18,536 units and accounted for 7% of domestic car production. A total of 13,286 battery BEVs and 5,250 plug-in hybrid PHEVs were produced.<\/p>\n \u0160koda Auto, the largest domestic carmaker, produced 161,733 passenger cars (+14.1%) at its domestic plants in January and February. \u0160koda produced 161,733 electric cars (battery BEVs and plug-in hybrid PHEVs). Hyundai’s Nosovice plant produced a total of 58,800 vehicles in the first two months, 8.7% more than in the same period last year. Of the total, 6,271 vehicles were pure electric and 3,660 were plug-in hybrids. Overall, electric vehicles accounted for 16.9% of total production.<\/p>\n Cologne-based Toyota saw a 120% increase in production in the first two months. This is mainly due to a lower comparative base from last year, in which the carmaker shut down production for almost the entire month of February due to component shortages. In absolute terms, a total of 42,495 passenger cars were produced in Cologne at the start of this year. Almost 47% of these were vehicles of the Yaris HV hybrid model.<\/p>\n In January and February 2024, 45 more buses were produced in the Czech Republic than in the same period last year. The total value of production thus reached 678 buses, which represents a 7.1% increase compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n IVECO CR in Vysok\u00e9 M\u00fdto produced 642 buses, 9.9% more than in the same period last year. SOR Libchavy managed to produce 31 buses in the first two months of this year, i.e. 14 less than last year.<\/p>\n KHMC produced 5 minibuses in January and February. In the electric drive segment, no electric buses were produced in the first two months.<\/p>\n Similarly to other vehicle categories, the traditional motorcycle manufacturer JAWA Moto also recorded a year-on-year increase in production.
