In the first month of this year, a total of 132,289 passenger vehicles rolled off the lines of domestic manufacturers, i.e. 17.3% more than last year. The production of buses also saw an almost 30 percent increase, with 291 units completed, while the production of motorcycles was literally one unit more than last year, with a total of 75 units. In the electric vehicle segment, a total of 9,165 electric vehicles were produced, of which 6,682 were pure electric and 2,483 with plug-in hybrid drive.

“In absolute terms, the January vehicle production surpasses the best results from the pre-crisis period and the automotive industry thus reaffirms its role as the driving engine of the Czech economy. Together with continued sales growth across the EU of 12% and easing inflationary factors, this gives hope for a renewed growth in consumer confidence in the positive development of the economy,” says Zdeněk Petzl, Executive Director of the Association of the Automotive Industry.
