In January, a total of 132,289 passenger vehicles were produced in the Czech Republic, i.e. 17.3% more than in the first month of last year. At the beginning of the year, 9,165 electric vehicles were produced, accounting for 7% of domestic car production, including 6,682 battery BEVs and 2,483 plug-in hybrid PHEVs.
Škoda Auto, the largest domestic carmaker, produced 81,919 passenger cars at its domestic plants in the first month (+16%). 3,945 electric cars, i.e. battery BEVs and plug-in hybrid PHEVs, were produced by Škoda, i.e. 4.8% of the brand’s total domestic production. Of these, 3,406 were battery BEVs and 539 were plug-in hybrids.
Hyundai’s Nosovice plant produced a total of 30,400 vehicles in January, 25.6% more than in the same period last year. Of the total, 3,276 vehicles were pure electric and 1,944 plug-in hybrids. Overall, electric vehicles accounted for over 17% of the brand’s domestic production.
January production at Toyota of Cologne was also higher year-on-year. A total of 19,970 cars were produced, which is 11% more than in January 2023. In absolute terms, 1,975 more passenger cars were produced in Kolín in the period. Almost 42 % of production (8 382 units) was made up of hybrid vehicles (HEVs).
Buses
In January 2024, 65 more buses were produced in domestic plants than in January last year. The total value of January production thus reached 291 buses, an increase of almost 30% compared to the previous year.
IVECO CR in Vyso Mity produced 279 buses, which is 30.4% more than in the same period last year. SOR Libchavy managed to produce 10 buses in the first month of this year, the same number as last year. KHMC produced 2 minibuses in January. In the electric drive segment, no electric buses were produced in January.
Motorcycles
Traditional motorcycle manufacturer JAWA Moto also recorded a similar production figure as last year. A total of 75 motorcycles rolled off the domestic brand’s production line in January, up by 1 motorcycle year-on-year.
