ELMAG Forum 2026

About event

An expert forum focused on current trends in battery technologies and their role in modern energy systems – from cell chemistry to BESS dimensioning in combination with PV and cogeneration to testing, simulation, and lifetime prediction. The event will offer practical approaches to the design of stationary and mobile applications, integration into hybrid ecosystems (PV, WE, H₂) and links to Lex OZE III legislation. Intended for specialists from industry, energy, and research. Organized by TechSim Engineering.

Thematic areas

  1. Trends in battery technologies & thermal safety Li-ion batteries and their trends, applications, lifetime and EU legislation / Prof. Tomáš Kazda (VUT FEKT in Brno)
  2. Thermal management of Li-Ion batteries and systems, aging modeling and simulation, predictive physical and empirical ROM models / Assoc. Ing. Petr Vyroubal, Ph.D. (FEKT VUT in Brno)
  3. Digital Twins and Virtual Sensors as key elements of the Software-Defined Battery framework for greater performance / Gaetan Bouzard (Siemens Digital Industries)
  4. Sizing of stationary storage facilities (BESS) in the PV + cogeneration ecosystem — size/capacity vs. load profile, cooling/BTMS and BESS as a tool for power balance services within Lex OZE III / Ing. Petr Gaman (P.A.T.R.I.C.)
  5. Sizing BESS vs. load profile, cooperation with PV/WE/cogeneration, influence of management on service life and efficiency (quick “what if” scenarios) / Ing. Petr Malaska (TechSim Engineering)
  6. Battery storage sizing: why the result is not only determined by capacity, but also by safety, degradation and diagnostic options / Ing. Pavel Hrzina Ph.D. (ČVUT FEL, UCEEB)
  7. Alternative options for electricity storage and production – digital twin of an energy self-sufficient building (PV, BEES, WE and electrolyzer) / Doc. Ing. Jan Novotny Ph.D. (Univerzita J.E.Purkyně)
  8. Digital twin of the Škoda Enyaq car, drive simulation and thermal management / Ing. Petr Potoček (VUT FSI in Brno)
  9. A peek into the engineering challenges associated with Formula Student energy storage design and optimal energy management / Hykl Šimon, Kubák Martin, Matyáš Jan, Vejšický Vojtěch (EFORCE Prague Formula)
