United by Innovation – Open Day for Industry 4.0

About event

The event is organized annually by the National Center for Industry 4.0, and thanks to a partnership with VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava and the infrastructure of the CPIT TL3 testbed, it is being brought to the Moravian-Silesian Region for the first time. The goal is to connect companies, research organizations and public administration and to present, through practical demonstrations and case studies, how innovations can be transferred to real practice and what competitive advantages this brings to companies.

Program

The morning part of the program will be opened by the strategic panel “United by Innovation: How to Succeed in an Uncertain World”, which will focus on the key challenges of today’s industry – from geopolitical impacts to the rise of artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies to issues of energy, security and long-term competitiveness of regions. The discussion will also address the role of Ostrava as a region where new approaches and technologies are tested in practice.

Radek Martinek (Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava), Eduard Palíšek (CEO, Siemens Czech Republic), Adéla Hradilová (Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of MSIC), Šárka Šimoňáková (1st Deputy Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region) and David Navrátil (Chief Economist, Česká spořitelna) have accepted the invitation to join the panel, offering expert perspectives on industry, public administration and the economy.

The strategic discussion will be followed by a block dedicated to the connection of research and industry, which will show how innovations actually get into business practice. It will present the cooperation of testbeds in Prague, Brno and Ostrava as well as specific projects implemented with industrial partners – from the use of artificial intelligence to digital twins in production. The emphasis will be placed primarily on the real benefits for companies and how these infrastructures can help accelerate the implementation of innovations.

The conference will also feature the rector of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava Igor Ivan, who will introduce the afternoon block focused on practical applications and specific experiences of companies. The partners of the National Center for Industry 4.0, Siemens, Škoda Auto, Conteg, SICK, QPAG, Prima Bilavčík, PHARIS, Deprag CZ, DEL, MURR and Adeon, will present their case studies covering a wide range of industrial areas.

The day will also include guided tours of the state-of-the-art CPIT TL3 testbed laboratories – Smart Factory, Mobility lab, 3D printing lab and Health lab, where visitors can see the technologies in operation. An important element is the innovation fair with presentations of technology partners, expert consultations and the opportunity to take a DigiAudit, which will help companies identify opportunities for digitalization and further development.
