From the beginning of the year to the end of November, a total of 1,349,148 passenger vehicles were produced on the lines of domestic manufacturers, which is only slightly below the level of last year’s record year. The production of motorcycles also recorded a year-on-year decline, which amounted to 690 units (-20.1%). On the contrary, the production of buses grew significantly, reaching 5,075 units (+27%). Electric vehicles currently account for almost 20% of total production. In the first eleven months, a total of 208,009 purely electric and 57,321 plug-in hybrid passenger cars and buses were completed.

“The production results for January to November confirm that the Czech automotive industry is maintaining high performance even in a challenging year and at the same time continuing its technological transformation. Electrified vehicles now account for a fifth of domestic production, with dynamic growth observed not only in passenger cars but also in the bus segment. At the same time, however, the discrepancy between the EU’s regulatory ambitions and the real interest of customers is becoming increasingly apparent. The share of electric vehicles on the markets in Europe is only around 16%, while the target set by regulation is 25%. At the same time, the requirements for 2030 stipulate more than half of the share in sales. Although the currently presented package of measures formally indicates greater technological openness, for example in the targets for 2035, in practice it rather brings another level of uncertainty and administrative burden. If Europe is to truly support the competitiveness of its automotive industry, it needs a stable and predictable environment that will be based on real customer demand, available infrastructure and technological neutrality,” says Zdeněk Petzl, Executive Director of the Automotive Industry Association.
