Between January and October, a total of 1,214,016 passenger cars were assembled in the plants of domestic manufacturers, only 2% less year-on-year than in the same period last year. On the contrary, production in the bus segment grew significantly, reaching 4,588 units (+28.1%), while motorcycle production fell to 598 units (-28.9%). The dynamic growth of electrification also continued, with 183,205 purely electric vehicles and 52,002 plug-in hybrids rolling off domestic lines. An exceptionally strong result was recorded in the electric bus segment, where production increased by more than 300% year-on-year to 295 vehicles produced.
“Demand for hybrid cars continues to grow in European markets, which already account for more than a third of all registrations. Customers perceive them as a practical and affordable solution. That is why the November launch of production of the new Toyota Aygo X hybrid model in Cologne is also great news. As for production results for January to October 2025, I see a slight 2% decrease as a good result in the current difficult times. The production of electrified vehicles continued to strengthen during this period – electric cars and plug-in hybrids already accounted for almost a fifth of all domestic production. The same trend is confirmed by the more than fourfold increase in the production of electric buses. All this shows that Czech automakers can turn technological transformation into concrete results,” says Zdeněk Petzl, Executive Director of the Association of the Automotive Industry.
Passenger vehicles
In the first ten months of this year, 1,214,016 passenger vehicles were produced in the Czech Republic, i.e. 2% less year-on-year than in the same period of the previous year. 235,207 electric cars were produced in the given period and their share in domestic production increased to 19.4%. In total, 183,205 battery BEVs and 52,002 plug-in hybrid vehicles were produced.
The largest domestic automaker, Škoda Auto, produced 784,518 passenger cars in its domestic plants in January-October (+2.7%). 178,434 electric cars (BEVs and PHEVs) were produced, i.e. 22.7% of the brand’s total production. Of these, 153,665 were battery vehicles and 24,769 were plug-in hybrids.
A total of 238,475 vehicles were produced at the Hyundai plant in Nošovice from January to October, i.e. 45,775 fewer vehicles (-16.1%) than in the same period last year. Of the total number of vehicles, 29,540 had a purely electric drive and 27,233 had a plug-in hybrid drive. Overall, electric vehicles produced in Nošovice account for 23.8% of the brand’s total domestic production.
A total of 191,023 vehicles rolled off the production line of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic in Kolín in the reported period, i.e. a slight 0.1% less than in the same period last year, but still above plan. More than half of the total volume in the first ten months of the year was made up of Yaris HEV hybrid vehicles, the other half by models with a combustion engine. Another highlight of the Kolín production at the end of the year is the launch of the new Toyota Aygo X Hybrid model, whose production began on November 12, 2025. It is the first full hybrid car in the A segment and currently the most affordable hybrid of the brand in Europe. The new model with very low emissions strengthens Toyota’s electrified portfolio and at the same time confirms the importance of the Kolín plant, which has produced over 4.5 million cars since 2005 and is now preparing for the future production of battery electric cars. The production of the hybrid Aygo X thus fits into Toyota’s European strategy aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.
Buses
Bus production recorded a year-on-year increase in production. In the first ten months, a total of 4,588 buses were produced in the Czech Republic, i.e. more than 1,000 units more (+28.1%) than in the same period last year. The Iveco CR plant in Vysokomyt produced 4,232 buses (+29.9%) and another 143 buses in the form of built-ups, which are being completed in the sister plant in Foggia, Italy. The SOR plant in Libchav also recorded a higher year-on-year production result, in which a total of 331 buses were produced, i.e. 37 units more than in the same period last year (+12.6%). A similar production trend as in the previous year was also recorded by the KHMC company, with 25 minibuses produced. A significant year-on-year increase was recorded in the segment of purely battery buses, of which a total of 295 were produced between January and October, i.e. 222 electric buses and 304.1% more than in the previous year. Most of them, i.e. 258 were produced in Iveco CR, the remaining 37 in SOR Libchavy.
Motorcycles
Traditional motorcycle manufacturer Jawa Moto reported a year-on-year decline in production. In January-October, a total of 598 motorcycles rolled off the domestic brand’s production line (-28.9%), which is 243 motorcycles fewer than in the previous year in absolute terms.
