In January and February, a total of 254,534 passenger vehicles were assembled on the lines of domestic manufacturers – 8.6% more year-on-year. The production of buses also grew by 875 units (+1.4%) and motorcycles by 183 units (+81.2%). The share of electrified passenger vehicles in total production was 40.9% – specifically 42,212 battery vehicles, 8,821 with plug-in hybrid and 52,978 with hybrid drive. Almost 60% of production, in a total number of 150,523 units, was cars with conventional drive.

“Especially in the context of a slight cooling in European markets, the high pace of domestic production since the end of the year confirms stable demand for cars manufactured in the Czech Republic. Proven and long-standing popular models continue to play a key role in production – the Škoda Octavia, Kamiq or Fabia, the hybrid Toyota Yaris and Aygo X or the Hyundai Tucson SUV. However, new electrified models, such as the fully electric Škoda Elroq or Enyaq, are increasingly making their way into the production mix. The combination of strong traditional model lines and electrification progressing in line with customer interest confirms the ability of domestic manufacturers to respond to current demand developments and the technological transformation of the automotive industry,” says Zdeněk Petzl, Executive Director of the Association of the Automotive Industry.
