Logistics is often described with adjectives such as fast, flexible, efficient or reliable. But one label that is increasingly used is responsible. The first thing that comes to mind when discussing responsible logistics is, of course, the relationship with the environment. But responsibility is not just being green. As automation and digitalisation in industry increase and the use of artificial intelligence proliferates, logistics must also be responsible to the people who work in it. The industry must also be responsible to society as a whole, the state or municipalities. Logistics also cannot do away with its role as a responsible player in the corporate structure – meeting the needs of other departments while pursuing the interests of its owners, generating acceptable profits and funds for investment. Last but not least, logistics and supply chain are accountable to all actors in the supply-customer chain.
